“One Swipe at a Time” is a student-led campaign aimed at combating food insecurity at NYU by improving the visibility, accessibility, and effectiveness of the university’s existing meal donation program, Swipe It Forward. Despite nearly 41% of undergraduates meeting criteria for food insecurity, many students remain unaware of the issue or how to help. The current system is underutilized due to lack of awareness, poor user experience, and limited transparency. This campaign proposes integrating Swipe It Forward into the Grubhub app used by NYU Dining, allowing real-time tracking of available donated swipes, expanding eligibility, and promoting the program through digital communications. By streamlining the donation process and increasing visibility, the campaign seeks to build a more supportive campus community where no student goes hungry.
